Bonus · for licence holders who use TradingView

The same engine,
drawn on a chart.

Every licence includes a companion indicator for TradingView: the Distillate's rules, written again in Pine, running on the chart in front of you. It draws what the engine would have owned on every day the chart can see, marks each rebalance, and keeps a scoreboard against buy-and-hold. The software never needs it; it is there because seeing a rule is the fastest way to trust one.

Before you start

A TradingView account. The free one is enough.

Invite-only indicators work on every TradingView plan, including the free one. If you do not use TradingView, stop reading: nothing is missing from your licence. The engine you bought runs on your computer or your server and decides on its own, without a chart.

The companion is a picture of the rule, not a second copy of the engine. It cannot place an order, it does not know what your account holds, and its backrun is TradingView's data through TradingView's arithmetic. The numbers it prints will not match the figures on this site to the decimal, and they are not meant to; the section on reading the scoreboard says why.

Tell us your TradingView username.

The checkout asks for it. If you left it blank, reply to your delivery email with the username, exactly as TradingView shows it under your profile. The grant is done by hand, within a day, and you get an email when it is done. If a day passes and nothing arrives, email us; it means we missed it, not that you are not entitled to it.

Add it to a chart.

Open any chart, then Indicators → Invite-only scripts. ⚖️ The Distillate is listed there once the grant is through; click it and it opens in its own pane under the price. It is not searchable in the public library, on purpose.

Switch the chart to the daily timeframe.

The product decides once a day, after the close, so the companion reads daily bars and nothing else. On any other timeframe the pane shows one line of text asking you to switch, and draws nothing, because a rule checked every five minutes would be a different rule with a different record.

on an intraday or weekly chart the pane says: ⚖️ THE DISTILLATE — switch this chart to the DAILY timeframe.

Pick the mode you bought, or one you are curious about.

The settings gear has a Mode box: STEADY, SELECT and ULTRA are the product's three engines and always run on their own tickers, whatever chart is underneath. EXPLORE runs SELECT's rule on the chart's own symbol instead, as a what-if; it is marked hypothetical on the scoreboard because it assumes a two-times fund exists for that symbol.

Two more boxes matter. Idle-cash sleeve chooses whether cash waits in a T-bill fund or at a flat rate you type, the same choice the software makes. Bitcoin sleeve and Gold sleeve draw the expansion on SELECT or ULTRA, so you can see what a fixed slice in either does to the line before you decide anything about it. The rest is cosmetics: where the scoreboard sits, text size, whether the rebalance pins show.

Read the pane.

The green line is the engine's equity, the grey line is buy-and-hold of the same thing, both starting at one hundred where the chart's history starts. Small pins mark the days the rule changed what it held. The word at the top right of the scoreboard is the engine's state on the last bar, in the same four words the operator page uses:

MAX LEVERfully invested at the top of its range.
PARTIALinvested, holding less than the maximum because the market has been rough.
DE-LEVEREDpulled well back; the rule is waiting for calmer days before it adds.
RISK-OFFthe exit is out; the sleeve sits in T-bills until the monthly signal lets it back in.

Read the scoreboard.

total returnthe two lines' whole run, from the first bar the chart has to the last.
CAGRthe same run as a yearly rate, which is the honest way to compare a long run with a short one.
Sharpereturn per unit of wobble; higher means the ride earned its bumps.
volatilitythe size of a normal year's swings. The engine's should sit near its target; buy-and-hold's is whatever the market gave.
max drawdownthe deepest fall from a high, the number that decides whether you would actually have held on.
rebalanceshow many times the rule traded, and per year; beside it, the share of days it was levered and the share it was pulled back.

The line under the title prints the current volatility in plain words, the dial the mode runs at, and the weight the rule wants today. That line is for you, on your chart; it is the calibration we do not publish, so please treat it the way you would treat the source.

Know what the scoreboard is not.

It is a backrun on TradingView's price history, computed bar by bar in Pine, and three things separate it from the figures on this site. It starts wherever the chart's data starts, so a longer or shorter history changes every row. It fills at the close the signal was read on, where the software trades the next session and pays for it. And it charges no funding drag for a cash account, which the expansion page puts at up to a point and a half a year. Expect the chart to read better than the site does, and the fall above to read far shallower than ULTRA's on the plans page, because the expansion runs the engine on sixty percent of the account; that gap is honesty, not a discrepancy. The published figures, the live record and the research ledger are the numbers we stand behind. The chart is there so you can watch the rule think.

The Distillate is independent software. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Interactive Brokers; you open and hold your own account, and the software connects to it on your computer.
